RADIATION

Principal authority is the Environmental Protection Authority for radiation inquiries eg. high voltage power lines, radiation from lasers, mobile phones, and ionising radiation such sas x-rays.

Some online publications:

· Recommendations for limiting exposure to ionizing radiation (NOHSC)

· National Standard for Limiting Occupational Exposure to Ionizing Radiation (NOHSC)

· Technical Report Of The Study Group On Radiation And Visual Display Unit (NOHSC)

Numerous publications are available at the ARPANSA website (Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency) who also provide approvals on imported machinery and goods. Just a few examples of ARPANSA publications are:
· Radiation emissions from microwave ovens
· Mobile phones and health effects
· Sunglasses and Protection from Solar Ultraviolet Radiation

There is no evidence to sugsgest that the electromagnetic radiation emissions from computers are sufficient to cause any physical harm. See NOHSC publication, Office Copying Machines   (PDF version).
